John Guest Push Fittings
Push fittings are highly recommended as these fittings can make fluid treatment installation more straightforward & efficient.
Parts of a Push Fitting:
A push fitting consists of three parts:
- The bodies, which are made from acetal copolymers or polypropylene.
- The rings, which are either Nitrile rubber or EPDM.
- Collets, made of acetal copolymer or polypropylene have stainless steel teeth.
How to Make the connection of Push Fittings?
Firstly, you have to make sure that the tubing end is nice & clean, and straight. There should not be rough edges or anything like that.
Secondly, if you are connecting them to high-pressure ends like on incoming mains or up to taps where there could be back pressure, it might be a little tube insert inside there but they are not really needed.
Finally, so what you do is you take the tubing, and you push the fitting, and if you give that a gentle tug back you can see it’s nicely in. Or simply insert the tubing a half inch deep into the fitting. The tubing will lock into place by inserting the locking clip.
How To Disconnect Push Fittings?
Firstly, shut off the feed water inlet. Turn on the connected faucet to release pressure inside the water system.
Secondly, shut off the tank valve, if you have a standard reverse osmosis system.
Finally, remove the locking clip, press the collar inward & pull the tubing outward simultaneously. That’s it, you are done.
